I have just looked on the LDS site and it replied that Hugh Smith m Mary Taggart in 1810 in Down
This is the first information I have come across for the pair. I know that they had several children before they left for Renfrew, Scotland, their last child was Hellen born in renfrew. Muir was 10 went they left Ireland.

I haven't been able to find a marriage for a Hugh Smith to a Mary Taggart in any part of LDS sites. There is an 1810 Co.Down marriage for Hugh Smith to Sarah Stevenson but it's a submitted record.

I downloaded a Gedcom, but could not get it to open because my husbands laptop does not have the facility and mine is not working properly, I suppose it was too good to be true. Will just have to try again. Keep Looking

You said you'd found it "on the LDS site"- which part?

Marcie,
I can find a reference to the marriage of Hugh Smith to Mary McTygart (sic) 0n 26 Nov 1819 in Bovevagh Presbyterian Church, Limavady, Co. Londonderry.

You said you'd found it "on the LDS site"- which part?
There were four or five choices, one in Canada from Ireland
one which had another wife
One which definately was not him because it said his father was John born 1800 which is when he himself was born approx.
and this other one which said 1810 Hugh Smith marriage Mary Taggart in down. Got quite excited. I made sure that it was Ireland as well.
Better than roots. Irish roots. want 5E per view. marcie

Hi Kinkerswell, is that right?
will make a note of this just in case. I went onto a site one day which allowed you to punch in your ancestors name, and it came back with the number of people in that county with the same name so that you could get an idea of the spread of your possible family members throughout Ireland. Cavan had the most possibilities. Cant remember the others.

Still can't find this Hugh Smith-Mary Taggart 1810 marriage on any LDS site (www.familysearch.org, Pilot Site, Beta Site)- perhaps it was some other website you found the information on.

Don't worry,
will see if I can get the Gedcom to work and see what is on there. If it is poss, then will try again when I have more cash on one of the Irish sites. Only wish there was a way to show you my findings. but computers have not come that far yet I dont think.

Computers can do all sorts of things- can you not post the url from the site you found?
-
Will see if I can find it again and post it on here.
