   I am looking for the parents of a George Smith born abt 1803 in Spalford Nottinghamshire can anyone help.

You won't need me tell you it's not easy to be sure we have the right one with a name like Smith... :D

But here goes..... "North Clifton is an Ancient Parish in the county of Nottinghamshire, other places in the parish include: Harby, Spalford, and South Clifton".

So if George was christened at North Clifton the only one I could find in the right timeframe you have given is this one;

Baptism at North Clifton - 13th May 1804
George Shepherd SMITH, mother Sarah Smith

On the 51 Census George was noted as being born in Spalford but on the 61 and 71 census it says he was born in Spotworth and then Sportsworth
Does anyone know where Sportsworth or Spotworth are?
