I'm trying to find a birth record for Michael Danaher born c 1852 in Canterbury. His father was in the army at the time, [88th Foot Connaught Rangers] . Any suggestions? I have tried the military births on FindMyPast, but came up with nothing.

I cand find no Michael Danaher born c 1852 in Chatham on Ancestry, even tried just Danaher with various spellings but no luck.
Are you certain that he was born in Chatham ???
-
Sorry for wasting your time,it was Canterbury according to the census, and not Chatham as I was told.Have now edited my first post.

I will take another look but I am not hopeful :(
Have you found him on any census's ??? if so please post the references
Still no sign, do you have his parents names ??? maybe he was not born a Danaher :-\

I can't see a Michael born Canterbury around that time.
He has a step-sister with the surname TULLY but I can't see a birth with that surname either.
I wondered if DANAHER was a variant of DONAHUE but I can't see any births for that name either. ???

I tried Donohoe as well but nothing. :(
Perhaps his birth was not registered :-\

Yes, that's him in Wales 1861. His father[Michael] was in the army until 1855 when he was pensioned out due to injuries in the Crimea War. So I would have thought his birth would be within the military, can`t find any record though. Also tried to find a marriage for his father Michael and step-mum Catherine, nothing.

They could have married in Ireland or America.
-
Yes,I thought of that,I know he served in the Royal Canadian Police[just don't have the year he was there],so he could have married there. Many thanks for everyones help.

You might be able to get some information as to which years where the regiment was from here.

Steve.... have you seen what looks like his fathers military service report on FindMyPast ???
I don't have a subscription so cant view but a friend took a look for me you could buy a few credits and view it yourself , they usually have a lot of valuable information including physical description's and often family. There are about 9 pages.
I just searched.... Micheal Danaher born 1827 Ireland. 3 possibles came up I think he is the first one listed, the 2nd was discharged around the 1890's your Micheal was out by then living in Wales in 1861 as a pensioner as per the census.
