I have found a Walter Ryland as a boarder on 1901 census for Donald Parker, his wife was a Ryland. Walter was born Mar qtr.1884 Avening. Please could someone look up the PR to find the parents names. Many Thanks MIK.

Thank you to both of you. Census states born Avening, which is Nailsworth area. I think that Gloucester is outside that registration area and therefore not the Walter you have provided. Once again many thanks for you very prompt reply, but I don't think he is the one I am looking for. MIK.

You use the word Gloucester. That's the county town of Gloucestershire. It is better to use GLS (Chapman code) for the county and Gloucester for the city.

Freebmd gives WR's birth registered in the Reg. Dist of Gloucester (GRO ref. Vol 6a Page 287) whilst Avening is in the Stroud Reg. Dist.

Don't forget there is also Wotton St Mary in Gloucester - but that might not be relevant to this search.
Have you traced the 1901 Walter back from 1911? Or does the occupation fit with other records?

Many Thanks to you all. Keyboard86 hit the right note, although Ancestry has missed to transcribe the surname. I found the entry and that is them, several children I did not know about, but Walter and Elizabeth, the Mrs Parker, were listed. Brother and sister 11 years apart. Once again many thanks to you all, query solved. MIK.

I could see that Sarah should have been around as her death wasnt until 1897 - and James Parker Ryland was a visitor in Oxfordshire....

Re: Richard Ryland 1799 Marriage
I have the same details, except the marriage was on 25 (not 10) November 1799. His name is transcribed as "Hyland", not "Ryland", but the spouse of Ann Lewis is the same. The details are:

Walter Ryland Born 1884 in Gloucester the son of James Ryland and Mary Ann Barnes
Went to the USA with his Brother Jack (John M Ryland) both worked in Chigago
Walter was a valet to a very rich man who lost all his money in the early days of the Great Depression.Subsequently Walter lost his job and could not get another, dying in Chicago in 1931
Jack returned to Europe in the Great war with the American Forces he said that he was dissapointed not to have been able to visit his family in Gloucester when he was drafted back to the US Jack Died in 1950 in Palm Beach
Wed 07 Dec 1904 Walter Ryland, Longlevens, was summoned for leaving his horse and cart unattended on November 28th. P.C. Edwin Perkins said the horse and cart were left 10ft..... for leaving a horse and cart unattended o Fleece Hotel, Wotton. Defendant 6 and was ordered to pay 2s. 6d
