Hiya Colette,

Have you looked in the Phone Book for Northern Ireland ??? The last edition was 2003. I had a look and noticed several people with the surname Mullen living in the Dungannon area. I have not looked at a map to see where Drumkee is in relation to the places mentioned in the Phone Book.  A message to the local paper might be an idea.

All the Best, Chris

Hello Colette,
Do you have any information on Elizabeths parents and ancestors? I am researching Magilton's in Ireland and Scotland.

Cheers,

Thank you Colette.
Interesting that Thomas was a miller. The last owner of Ballcopeland windmill (now restored) was Samuel Mc/Magilton b-1879. His parents were Thomas and Mary Ann Fuller. Thomas died about 1900. Other members of the family ran windmills at places like Ballyhalbert and Ballyholme.
I also have a Thomas Magilton b1818 Kircubbin to Thomas and Elenor Young, but nothing more I can link to him.
I have a vague note about a Thomas working as a jeweller in Belfast in the 1890's and there are a few more Thomas' further afield.
Was Elizabeth Lowry, Thomas' only child?

Cheers,
Matthew.

Hi There

just noticed this post about the McGilton's, Thomas's wife was Mary Ann Fulton instead of Fuller and they ran the Ballycopeland Windmill in Millisle. i have been researching the McGilton's for quite some time so if you would like any more information dont hesitate to get in contact, i have them as far back as 1790 with James and Maria McGilton being Thomas's parents.

Hello everyone,
I would love to gain some valuable insight as it seems you have all gotten much further in your research than I have. I just made a post on another forum but I am hoping to get information on the McGilton family which is my husband's family. We are celebrating out 16th wedding anniversary next week and my gift to him is all the research I have done on his family ancestry and the beautiful treasures I have discovered along the way.

Any help in connecting dots or further information would be WONDERFUL! Also answers to the following questions--is the McGilton family originally from Scotland? Were my hubby's family members the McGilton's who operated the Ballycopeland Windmill?

Here is the information I have found thus far:

My husband's grandfather was Kenneth McGilton (first to be born here in the United States).
His parents were:
Joseph T. McGilton b. May 1887 in Co. Dublin and Agnes McGilton (maiden name Kilduff) b. Co. Dublin
Joseph's parents were:
James McGilton b. 1865 in Co. Dublin and he married Ellen M. McGilton (maiden name Roche) on June 29, 1886 @ St. Mary's Pro Cathedral. She was b. 1867 (I found a note somewhere she was possibly born at 17 Anne Street in Dublin)
James' parents were:
Joseph McGilton b. 1840 Co. Dublin and he married Alice McGilton (maiden name Moore) b. 1846 in Co. Dublin

Can anyone help me further, based on the above information?
