I n the 1861 census one of my relatives is shown has living in Landsceugh Cottage, Hawkesdale,Dalston.Dose anyone know if this is still there,i can't find Landsceugh.Thank You.Cumbrian

But It doesn't quite pinpoint it :(
I do know that the area known as Hawksdale covered the area between Rose castle and the modern day bridge end ... I'll have a bit trawl through the directories I have tomorrow and see if I can tell you any more

As an afterthought, what was the name of your ancestor? might help with the trawl through the directories ::)

MandieP thanks for you reply,My relatives are John Mitchell and wife Tamar and family.In the 1871 census {not 61 has in my post}they are living in.Landsceugh Cottage.Hawkesdale,Dalston.hope this is of some help.Cumbrian
