I'm looking for any information on a John Aspell, he was I think an Architect and designed some of the houses on the mentmore estate owned by the Rothchildes in the mid 1800's.
Many thanks

He was clerk of works too
-
Think that will be impossible without some further information
-
I had a quick look on the 1881 census and can't see a likely candidate. I don't suppose you have any idea of his date and place of birth?
-
A long shot.............have you contacted the Rothschild Archive?

"Devey was replaced by John Aspell, the Mentmore Clerk of Works who had worked under Devey. Aspell continued building at Mentmore, but in a prettified version of Devey's style.
