Title: Help with brides name please
Post by: madpants on Thursday 28 October 10 10:45 BST (UK)
This is a certificate I have just received and I'm having trouble with the brides third name.  It doesn't help that it looks like it's been circled because it's spelled differently top and bottom.  It also doesn't help that I can't use my scanner and have had to photograph it and crop it in paint  ::)

Thank you for any suggestions.  ;D

Its Franziska on the LMA records held by Ancestry.

... Perhaps it was just too hard to spell then ... I'm still thinking  ???, the F is nothing like the F in Frances and neither versions look like a short form of Franziska  :D oops

... I had been wondering what else the letter could be before that post, perhaps it is a K
:-\

we have a young friend named Franscesca who was always Fran in short form and now insists on being cheska!

... but then would it be Franziska following Frances  :-\ ... oops gotcha  :D ... you mean not Frances but the longer form as 3rd name  ;) I was somehow breaking it into 2 names  :-[

the first rendition on the partial Cert above deffo has a Z, and ends in SKA....

The only similar Birth Index entry (somewhat supported by having a Father named James, albeit not a Coach Trimmer) in the 1881 census  RG11; Piece: 185; Folio: 84; Page: 1 in Goodge Street, Tottenham Court:-

Births Sep 1872

Alexander  Edith Louisa F    Kensington  1a 49

Added: Despite the Registrar stating her name as Edith Elizabeth Franziska, on the LMA record she SIGNs as Edith Louise !

So that Birth Entry above is the correct one. Still not 100% about the 1881 entry however. 1891 has her in Service in Richmond.

It looks to me to be Edith Elizabeth Franziska ALEXANDER in the first rendering and Edith Elizabeth Franzisks ALEXANDER below.  In each case the last three letters of the F name have been circled, perhaps by a confused indexer.

Wow wonderful thank you everyone  ;D ;D  I've been tearing my hair out wondering which of the Ediths in census were her.  I've not got access to the LMA records so that's great thank you Mort  :-*

I'd seen the 1881 entry and it's the only one in the area with James as father just the wrong occupation.

Hi there
I am researching the same person as yourself Edith Louise(a) Franziska Alexander.  My main interest is a son Edith had to Albert Raymond Perkins. Jan 1895.  Would you by chance be researching this side of your line as I am trying to find out what happened to Albert.  I understand he had a name change and hope you might be able to guide or help me with this request.  Look forward to hearing from you.  Cheers for now
