for a Parram Ancell Minors. Wife Ann Keaton whom he married on 26 December 1803 at St Leonards. Shoreditch, London.
Son is Benjamin Charles Minors born 1813 in Cripplegate, East London.
I am trying to trace Parram's birthdate and place of birth and his parents. All help much appreciated as stuck on Parram right now.
-
With a name like that there can't be too many of them - so I wondered if you were aware of this marriage for him?
18 Apr 1796 St James Paddington
Parram Ancel Minors married Rachel Weedon/Weeden
witnesses James King, William Blaxam & Elizabeth Weeden
His marriage to Ann Keaton in 1803 shows him as a widower

Ah that is where Rachel fits in then ? Did see her name floating around ., Yes I too thought with such an unusual name it would be easy enough to find his birthplace and parents but having trouble finding that info. Looked on Family Search and Family Record Search etc as well.

there's a christening at St Giles, Cripplegate of a Joseph Ancell on 3 May 1807, son of Parram Ancell and Ann Minors.

He was buried at Nunhead Cemetery on 19th May 1856 giving his age as 80 therefore born around 1776. Last address was 12 Townsend Street, Southwark
edit: as per the entry Toni found for the child Sophia he is buried as Parran and not Parram

He's on the 1841 census @ Ayliffe Street, Newington as "Ansel Minors", aged 66 with Ann, who was aged 62. His occupation is a Hairdresser and neither of them were born in county.

There is a Barber Surgeon's Company of London that he could have been registered with as well. I seem to recall that the Guildhall Library in London has a lot of medical registers so that could be a source of information about him as well

Thats brilliant. I live in London so could go there in person. Is a Barber Surgeon a differnt thing to a Barber ? Never heard of a Barber Surgeon.

I think they are different - barber surgeons were recognised medical practitioners would could perform surgery, extract teeth, sell medicine as well as cut hair. the red and white barbers pole comes from them (representing the blood and napkins used to clean up after blood letting)

Parran Ancel MINORS was born in Stratford on Avon about 1776, no Baptism found for him. He was the third of 8 children of Joseph MINORS, variously Peruke Maker, Barber and Butcher and Sarah DUNN.
No baptism found for Parran as for other children at Holy Trinity, Stratford on Avon.
Know of Parran from Wills of his younger brother Joseph MINORS, where Parran and his children are mentioned.
Joseph and Sarah both of Kington/Kineton before their marriage in Holy Trinity at Stratford on Avon in 1772.
Parran's father Joseph MINORS' parents are John MINORS and Anne ANSELL.
Possible theories on Ancell/Ansel/Ansell and Parran connection, none proved to date.
Hope this helps

Monday, Feb. 19, 177
Publication: Hampshire Chronicle (Hampshire, England)Volume: IV , Issue: 183
A correspondent informs us, that Mr. Minors, one of the surgeons to the Middlesex Hospital, daily meets With so much success in applying fixed air to cancers, after a mode peculiar to himself, that we hope an effectual cure will be found out for this dreadful disorder; and our correspondent adds, I that from the ingenuous and humane disposition of Mr. Minors, there is no doubt that he will render the principles ot his pradice as public as possible, for the general benefit of the community.
Could this man be connected, name and occupation, shame his first name isn't given.

I hadn't noticed the date of the post. 🙄

Thankyou for the welcome.
I only came across this post by chance, doing a quick Google search for Parran.
A shame I didn't see it way back when I could have knocked down Mummikins' brick wall then.
Parran's younger brother Joseph MINORS was described on Census and his Death Certificate as a 'retired surgeon' but the Hampshire article 1776 is too early to be him as he was born in 1781. He did live in London for a time though and perhaps the 'Mr. Minors' might be an earlier relative. I'll have to do some sleuthing !
Thanks
Patricia
