Can anyone help please?
Mabel Jacobs married Wiliam Robert Crawford (my great uncle) in 1920 at West Ham. Two years later they both died in the influenza pandemic, leaving their two year old son, William Charles.
There is a family story that he was raised by his Jacobs grandmother. Does anyone have any knowledge or connection? I would like to know a little about his early years.
Thank you
Jo

Hi
The influenza pandemic lasted from March 1918 to June 1920

The deaths certainly occurred in 1922 and may well have been from influenza

If you know where he was brought up you might be able to find his school records which might list his guardian and give an address.

Hello and thanks for replies from Valda, CroxleyGreen and Jeuel,
Have BMD certs for this family, but had not checked the 1901 Census. The extended family has long wanted to know what happened to the wee lad (William Charles Crawford), orphaned at 2 yo. He had been put in the "too hard" basket while other family research was underway, and now it's time to highlight him.
I'll follow up on school records once I find where he was brought up.
Thanks again,
Jo
