Hi All,
Seeking further Information on 2 Orphan children sent to Australia arriving 1850. Ellen or Eleanor Donelan age 14yrs and her sister Mary age 16yrs.
Their Information on the ships log (Panama) states native place as Leightford, Galway and parents Peter & Mary both deceased.
What I am requiring is Information on Ellen and Mary,s Parents and if there were other children
On Ellen's death certificate her father is stated as Michael not Peter.
Also does Leightford still exist, unable to find it on Google maps.
Regards,
John.

Hi
Have seen listing for ship "Panama" before and this town Leightford interpreted as "Seylford" .
Possibly "Headford" as a number of young girls from Headford/hedford/edford , Tuam area listed.

No info for you John, just wanting to keep an eye on this one as I have the same Donelan spelling from Glenammaddy/Clooncon and there could be a connection. I haven't got back to 1850 yet, have my Grandfather Michael Donelan coming to NZ around 1909 ( still to locate exact date ) and his parents marriage in 1870.... with the Donlon spelling, Thomas Donelan a blacksmith to Mary Keaveny both aged 25yrs.
