I have most of the information on Anne/Nannie/Annie Byrne and Michael J Clifford. except where and when did they marry! .. it's just curiousity really!
1911 Annie is in Ireland - I know her birth, siblings, parents etc.
In 1920 census, Annie and Michael are married, living in Cayuga Co NY with 2 children. I have a lot of stuff from here on.
Annie says she arrived USA 1915? Michael 1906. Annie has family in the area - did she come out to marry?
We always thought they married in Ireland, but I can't find them at all.

Do you have them on the 1930 Census? If so, that should give an age at 1st marriage, which may help you to narrow the time frame down further.
If you think they may have married in New York State, you could request a look-up for the marriage as explained here: http://ny-genes.blogspot.com/2008/03/new-york-state-vital-records-microfiche.html

If they arrived in U.S. at Ellis Island you can search the passenger manifests- check both pages to see nearst relative in U.K., who they were going to in U.S., etc. There's at least 1 Michael Clifford arriving in 1906 but without any other details it's impossible to know if this is the one you are looking for.

If they didn't marry in Ireland, Annie must have been going to her sister Mary Dwyer, already living in Cayuga Co.
I haven't got the 1930 census for Annie and Michael.
I'll have a look at the New York Website,
and another look at Ellis Island.(edit: no luck there for Anne/Annie/Nannie Byrne)

In 1958, the Utica (NY) Observer ran the obit of their son John J. Clifford. In the obit, John's birthday was June 21, 1917, so it's likely his parents were married in 1916.

The Fulton site has millions of pages of old newspapers which are free to search.

thank you, Fred
(and thanks Aghadowey and Shellyesq too)
Posting this thread must have concentrated my mind a bit. I had already found stuff about their later life on the fultonhistory site some months ago. It's an absolutely fantastic site, Fred, I agree.
Anyway, with a bit of dedicated searching in the last hour, I've come up with their marriage, (via a "20 years later" entry in the "Cato Citizen") on May 10, 1916 in St Patrick's Church (Cato, I suppose)
It even said that the bride wore old rose poplin.
To think - if I'd been more organised, I'd have found this earlier - but everyone was so sure they married in Ireland!
