I'm a singer and my mother used to visit Wicklow when she was a young women. For some unknown reason I have a song book, written by hand by Rosie Kirwan with a date of 26/3/1943. There are popular songs all handwritten by her. There is a Maire Kirwan's name written in also (looks like a child's writing). There are other signatures in there too, although hard to read, they include: Agnes Rasey?, Rita McGing?, and Violet Hyland.
Anyone know any of these people and their descendants?

Welcome to Rootschat. This isn't a forum for tracing living people so if anyone can help they might have to send you details by PM (personal message) rather than posting on this thread- to do so each person needs 3 posts.
-
Sorry about that, but if anyone wants to send me a PM that would be fine.

Hi Reachra,
I tried to send a PM but was unsuccessful because I haven't posted 3 times. I may have some information about Rosie Kirwan from Dunlavin. You're welcome to try to contact me by PM.

Each person needs to have 3 posts to send each other PMs as I explained earlier.

Hi, as your living in Dunlavin perhaps you can help.I'm tracing my G.GrandfatherPeter Augustus Doran and Bridget Brady who lived in the Railway Hotel in 1900-1910. Peter died aged 34 in 1910.
I was trying to obtain copies of old photos showing The Railway Hotel in that period. Peter A. was born in Milemill, Kilcullen and Bridget in Ballyknockan. I have photos of them both.
Any info would be greatly appreciated........Tony Redmond

Hi Debbie
Peter Augustine Doran b.1875-1910 was my Great Grandfather his wife was Bridget Brady b.1877-1954 she was from Laurel Lodge, Ballyknockan. Her father John Brady had a granite quarry. I believe the Lawler family bought the Railway Hotel after Peter A.died in 1910 in the Mater Hospital Dublin. I have a great photo of the two of them which was taken in Grangecon. My Grandfather was born in Dunlavin and his two brothers and two sisters. To-date I have not been successful obtaining any photos of the Hotel from that period. I have a lot of information on the Doran's of Milemill who lived where the Stray Inn is now. They are all buried in New Abbey cemetery,Kilcullen in a double grave which I located. Thanks again Debbie..............Tony

Yes , I worked in the hotel years ago , it is now called Tynte house B&B. It used to belong to the Tynte Ervine estate , so I will make a few enquires . Do you know where in Grangecon the photo was taken , my Dad was originally from there . Will be in touch later in the week when i find some information.

Debbie
I did talk to John Lawler in the Tynte House a year ago, he was courteous but not much help.
The Railway Hotel is the building on the corner right next door to the Garda Station. Its now a little coffee shop. The back of the photo is stamped Grangcon. That may have been the photographer I do believe his name was Whelan......Tony

Debbie, Did you manage to get any further detail on Peter Augustus Doran. He was the owner in the 1901 and Lawlers in the 1911 census. I did get his death record, he died in the Mater Hospital of Brights Disease in 1910 aged 34yrs. Delighted to get any info / photos. Thanks........Tony
