Title: Immigration Help - Hong Kong to Australia
Post by: Foad Family Kent on Thursday 21 October 10 20:01 BST (UK)
I have a family of FIELD's who were evacuated to Australia when war broke out in japan in 1940.
Is there anyway I can find out what happened to them after. Any passenger lists, although they would possibly be fleeing?
I have no idea where in Asutralia they went so searching for deaths would be impossible. Please help, I have no idea where to start.

That would be fantastic, just thought with hardly any info it would be too much of a task.

Emma Elizabeth Field c.1886 married William Valentine Field c.1911 Shanghai.

Daughter Ellen Martha Doris Field 1912 I have everything on (she stayed in Hong Kong for the duration of WW2 with her father WV Field above who was interned in a camp there, with Ellen's hubby Frank Lee.)

Daughter 2, Emma ElizabethFlorence Field born 1915 Shanghai

Emma Elizabetn Field c.1886 nee Lyons went with her daughter Emma Elizabeth Florence Field 1915 to Australia and nothing heard from since other then a marriage to a Donald or Michael De Souza Richardson for Emma E F 1915.

Cando - Wow, this is great. Thank you
Where is HD? I am not familiar with Australian districts at all.

I did find this entry for what I thought was Emma Elizabeth Florence's son

RICHARDSON, Donald Michael de Sousa, of Thornlands, formerly of Sydney.
Beloved Husband of Ann. Father of Michael, Elizabeth, Robert, Marie- Ann, Mark, Claudio, and Families. Family and Friends are invited to attend a Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving to be held at the Cleveland Uniting Church, Passage Street, Cleveland, on Friday 24.10.2008, at 1 p.m. ALEX GOW FUNERALS Redlands Ph: 3821 4570 100% AUSTRALIAN OWNED

Tropicalj - I have William valentine returning to Kent UK and details up until his death, thank you.

HD - Home duties.

I am puzzled...what makes you think that Donald Michael de Sousa RICHARDSON is Elizabeth Emma Florence's son?

Cheers

A niece of Emma, who I have been trying to help with this family was in touch with this family until death but never asked questions.
I was able to find the annoucement in the Ryerson Index.

Possible that Donald Michael de Sousa RICHARDSON was son of Emma and George Thomas Steele Richardson?

Have you thought of contacting the funeral directors or the church to find find more information on this family?

I wrote to the funeral directors last month and they agreed to pass a letter on which I also sent. No reply from the family yet sadly.

Still having trouble finding her death and also anything on the George T S Richardson who may have married Elizabeth Ellen Field.

George Thomas Steele Richardson's army records are on RecordSearch - not much extra info but it does have his birthplace/date.

I didn't put the details on as judging by his birthdate he may well still be alive.

Albeit Slighty????  :)
However I merely  tied the two threads  together  to help researchers.

However  the  thread does  give a possibility for  the death of Emma, even if the age is out slightly.  The information on  the death certificate is only as good as the informants knowledge of the deceased.  If  family folklore is true and she was in a home looked after by nuns  they may not have known her age etc.

the  only  way  to know whether or not it is her would be to obtain  the death certificate.

Hi, ive just read this post and i am George TS Richardson's daughter from his 2nd marraige.  He was married to EllenElizabeth, they called her Billie. Her son was Donald, who came out to Australia from Hong Kong with her. He passed away in 2008. Dad passed away in September last year, in Cairns QLD, aged 91. Ellen, or Elizabeth had 4 children. Let me know if you are still looking for the family.

Hi, I have sent an email to you. Also, I contacted Donald Michael de Sousa Richardsons family, his wife Ann is interested in contacting you. I think she has been trying to trace the family history from this end and will be pleased to connect.
I have also sent her a link to this forum.

William Valentine Field gets a mention in the following link. Scroll down quite a long way to a man reading a spiral bound notebook in front of some graves. Or use your computer's search feature. William gets a mention just below that man.
