Title: Germany: Gera, Thuringia

I've recently discovered an ancestor was born in Gera in 1862. I have his birthdate and the names of both parents. Would anyone have information about where to write to check if any birth record exists?

Any help/guidance appreciated!

I think  this is the best address to try in the first instance:

Superintendentur Gera
Talstrasse 30
D-07545 Gera
Germany

The Lummer family were well-known in Gera as industrialists and bakers; their origins being in the small village of Untermhaus, just outside Gera.

You need to enquire about the Kirchenbuecher (parish registers).
