Request lookup in 1851, 1861 and 1871 census for Henry Sandford. According to later census he was born about 1849 in Arscott Powtesbury, Shropshire and freeBMD cofirms this with an entry for a birth in 1849 Dec qtr Atcham District.

I know this is an old post, but just out of interest Thomas Sandford shown above b1839 also used the name Christopher for a son, though as a middle name. George Christopher Sandford b. Arscott 1883 was my Great Uncle.
