I am currently researching a Clifford John Rowlands who was killed in 1944 in a plane crash in Northamptonshire. His parents were Robert Barnett Rowlands and Rosa Emma Beatrice Iva Rowlands of Prenton, Cheshire. He was in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve as a Sergeant Navigator. He was 20 years old at death making his birth year approximately 1924/25.
Can anyone help me please with any information about him or his family?

It looks as if Clifford had a sister, I won't post the details here in case the person is living, but if you search for births on www.freebmd.org.uk surname ROWLANDS - Spouse / Mother surname BONE you should be able to find this yourself.

Hi
I can't help with any family details but did find a small report in the local paper from 1944.
Would this be of any help to you?

This looks to be Robert & Rosa with their parents - obtaining their marriage certificate would give confirmation of this giving their father's names & occupations

Hi
Just stumbled on your post re- Clifford J Rowlands, I have been researching the Rowlands name off and on for some time, just restarted my research.
I also have a copy of a newspaper cutting about the accident, I presume it is the same one Neptune mentioned.
My father was CJ Rowlands half Brother and I knew R B Rowlands' father when I was a boy he lived with his Sister in Birkenhead at that time.
Is your research of C J Rowlands part of a wider interest in the Rowlands name?

Hello.
Thank you for your message. I am a member of the Harpole Heritage group and at the present I am researching the crash of the Wellington aircraft that CJ Rowlands was in. I am hoping to write a book to the memory of the crew and also hopefully to have a small memorial erected on the site in due course. I would be most grateful for any help/information you can give me.
Many thanks and best regards,

Hello
I have a newspaper cutting from the Birkenhead News 04/10/44, maybe this is the same as the one Neptune was sending.
He lived at 19 Parkhill Road Birkenhead, attended the Birkenhead Institute, was employed by A.V.Crutchley (transporters) and he was a Sergent Navigator RAFVR.
I have just joined Rootschat, I was going to attach an image but when I click the attach photograph link it just reveals 3 tickboxes.

Hi Layman,
You are unable to post images on this board - it is a lookup request board and it prevents us having alot of potential copyright issues.
If you reply to this post you should then be able to send and receive personal messages - so you could then contact Wheeltapper directly and exchange email addresses and send directly.
The other alternative is to post a new topic on the Cheshire board where you can attach an image:

Hope this helps,

Hiya
I might have some information that may be of help.
But first can I please ask why you are researching into his family?
Thanks :)
-
Hiya,
I wasnt aware that clifford besides his sister (who died very early) had any other relatives.
I mean no disrespect but did yur fathers and Cliffords father re-marry before or after cliffors or your father.
Hope I make sense.
I am a distant relative of clifford and this has been really interesting to know more!
Thanks :-) bex
