I am looking for the death of Harry Farrant born 1872 Yarcombe Devon but can't find his death? How would you know if he had emigrated and where would you start looking? All a bit bewildering!!!!

Hi elliejellie69,
Have you managed to find him on any census returns
-
He is on the 1901 and 1911 all showing Marlybone London where he is a police officer who left service in 1920 but no info after that?
-
I don't know how or where to start, but have you checked for a Police Pension record?

Do you know if he had any middle names ?
Was he married, if so, what was the name of his wife ?
There was a Harry Farrant died in Bristol in 1933, his wife's name was Grace.
Harry's wife located in a later post - see below.

With the help of.....
http://www.minehead-online.co.uk/selworthyarea.htm
I found Harry Farrant's wife in 1911, she (Emilie) is staying with her parents John Fry & Jane, and her son Geoffrey Cecil Farrant is also with her.
Emilie Farrant died in Exmoor, Somerset in Q4, 1946.
Harry & Emilie Fry married in Marylebone in Q2 of 1901 - 1a 1187.
All you have to do is follow the paper trail :)
If you haven't already got Emilie's death certificate, I'd get it - it would give the name of the informant, which could give clues as to whether Harry was still alive then.

Thanks Rick29, My grandfather was the son Geoffrey Farrant, so I know all about the Minehead bit but they were estranged from Harry and we have no record of what happened to Harry, where he died or whether he remarried? I just don't seemed to be able to find his death, thats why I thought he may have emigrated?
