Title: Margaret Condon
Post by: maggie smith on Tuesday 12 October 10 14:49 BST (UK)
I am looking for information on Margaret Condon who was marrid to Edward (Ned) Kiely.  They had a funeral business in Dungarvan.  Margaret was the sister of my grandmother.  Any information would be of help.

The only dates I have been able to find ar those of Ned Kiely, Born 09/05/1918 and passed away on 05/01/2006.  I have the write up of his life from the Dungarvan Leader.  The only information that it gives of Margaret is her maiden name of Condon (She was also known as Ciss)

Maggie,

From reading your posts, I think we may be related.  I met Ned Kiley around 1999 while tracking down my Condon ancestors in Dungarvan.  I spoke with him at his buisness at length and have traced many of the Condon family in Dungarvan.  I'm not sure of Ned's wife name, but Ned's mother was Margaret Condon and her husband was James Kiley (Ned's father).  What was the name of your grandmother?  I am interested in what you may have also.  My ggf was William Condon, who was Margaret's Uncle.  I have much to share if related.

Hi Cincinnati cousin,

Thank you so much for your reply, Neds wife Margaret Condon was my grandmothers sister.  I have traced one side of my tree ( the Mcgrath's) who also lived in Dungarvan and worked for Ned Kiely.  Neds father JIMMY started his business in Keating street Dungarvan, where my uncle Denis lived.
The family grave stone in St Mays Church Yard was a gift from Monsignor John Kiely.  I am told that Monsignor John Kiely was related to my mother Ellen Mcgrath (daughter of Maurice Mcgrath and Mary Moroney).
My email address is  (*) please reply to this email as I have so many photos and certificates that I am willing to share.

Maggie,

Hopefully this counts as the third post, so with the next we can use the "Personnel Message" feature with the next post.

I am still a bit confused that you mention that Ned's wife was a Condon.  Ned never mentioned who his wife was.  I do know that Ned's mother was Margaret Condon who was married to Jimmy Kiely.  Margarets Parents were Johnny Condon and Margaret Naughton.  Was your grandmother's sister named Josephine or Joan?  This was Margaret's older sister.

This is not to say Ned's wife wasn't a Condon.  I'm just not sure who she may be yet, and if she is a Condon which Condon family she is from until I match her name.

I am sorry I got mixed up with the names.  I do not know the names of Neds wife, but I know a man that does.  I used to stay with his mother and father when I was 6 years old and help him feed the farm animals.  I will get back to you as soon as he emails me the answer.
I know ver little about the condons, as my mother never spoke about them.  But after she died my cousins who came over to UK told my about the family link with the Kielys, and also showed my the family grave in Dungarvan, to which the Kiley and Mcgrath names appeared.  I was also informed that Ned came over to the UK to study for the priesthood but returned to Dungarvan as he was homesick.
