Matilda Knowling born in 1847 in Hunslet, Leeds.

This is the nearest match. It is not a mistranscription - the name is spelt like this on original image so the enumerator may have misheard.

I will have to do a bit more research to confirm Matilda's family. I am planning a vsit to Halifax archives to look up her marriage and birth to see if I can get any more details from there.

I will keep a copy of what you found and see if it ties in.
