Does anyone have the passenger list for the Herman von Beckerath which departed Bremen 1847, arriving Port Adelaide, South Australia 15/12/1847.
The ship arrived via Rio de janiero and I'm looking for passengers 'STENGERT.'
Any help greatly appreciated,
cheers, :)

Wendy,
Two of my daughter's family ancestors were on the Herman von Beckerath, arriving in December, 1847 to South Australia.
These were Bickhoff and Klopper.
I have extracts from the original shipping list for both obtained from the State Library Queensland. The quality is not good but you can identify the names etc.
I suggest you make direct contact for your enquiry.
Either the State Library South Australia or State Library Queensland.
I have a contact at SLQ

Hi Kev,
Nice to hear from you.
Thankyou very much for the information, I will email Kirsten tomorrow.
I know there was four Stengerts aboard the ship but need to check the full list because still haven't found my g.g.g'parents.
I appreciate you contacting me very much.
best wishes,
Wendy :)

Hi There
I have a copy of the passenger list for the Hermann von Beckerath and I am trying to put together the stories of what happened to these immigrants to South Australia. All contributions gratefully received.
The Stengerts were listed as: STENGERT Gottlieb (30), Caroline (23), Pauline (3), Ottilie (2), from Winsen.
cheers

JohnV - I have prepared family trees for both of my grandsons, Tyler Bickhoff and Mitchell Baker.
Both have a starting point as far as Australia is concerned with this ship's voyage in 1847.
Both the Bickhoff and Klopper families have had detailed histories prepared and printed.
The Klopper Family History is on the Net at the TeaTree Gully District site - use Google.
the Bickhoff history is out of print but I have a copy - it is a subset of "The Naulty Family History - 150 years in South Australia, 1846 - 1996", Gerald Lally, (pp. 15 - 17, 42 - 55, 215 - 239 & 335 - 339.)
Make contact direct and I will arrange both the ancestoral trees, as I have them prepared to date - not complete.
