Hi,
I'm looking for any information on DANIEL VALENTINE and his wife ELLEN LOUISA of London England. Trying to find their marriage and deaths if possible and any children. Daniel Valentine's occupation was a Pastry Cook or Confectioner.
One known son Joshua Valentine.
Ellen Louisa's maiden is unknown.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
twistedbranches.

Hello
What timeframe are we talking about? Do you have them on any census records?
You can search for them on freebmd:
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
There's a marriage to Ellen Hurry at Southwark in 1941 but if you ae looking at recent times, bear inmind that we are not allowed to request lookups for people who may be still alive.

Hi,
I don't have any census records on this family, I have virtually nothing on them at all and the time frame would be from about the late 1700's to the birth of Joshua sometime around 1802-1805.
Cheers Aileen....... :)
-
ah, in that case freebmd is not going to help ;D
you may be able to find Joshua Valentine in 1841 census, presumably still in the UK.
-
Hi again,
Joshua was shipped off to the Australian Colony on NSW in 1825 for stealing and he died here in 1875 and I have a good amount of info on him.
It's his parents and any siblings of his that I am most interested in as I have no real information on them at all.
Cheers Aileen..... :)
-
do you think that Joshua may have come back to UK?
There was a Daniel and Joshua Valentine in Stepney, Middlesex in 1841 census.
Daniel born ca1781 age 60
Joshua born ca 1811 age 30
-
Hi,
Joshua never returned to England he died in Australia in 1875.
The family could have lived somewhere near the Middlesex, Bethnal Green or Limehouse area but not sure on that.
Cheers Aileen..... :)

this is probably your Joshua's "record":

Hi Keyboard,
Thanks for for, that it's something to keep in mind.
The date of 1781 for Daniel Valentine would make him old enough when Joshua was born did you find any reference to the area where he was born.
Cheers Aileen....... :)
-
Hi as per normal with 1841 only that he was born (In County) ie Middlesex

Hello Aileen,
Please be in touch as I am plugged into a network of more than 10 active researchers working on Henriques Valentine (HV) family of East London. I believe these may be descended from Joshua HV and wife Ribca (de Issac) Lopes Pereira, also in my tree. Cheers, mikeadair10 at gmail etc 25-7-12

Hi mikeadair10,
I Just received an email today from Dave Valentine about Daniel de Joshua Henriques Valentine and Levier de Haim Simons (hope I got that right) aka Daniel Valentine and Ellen Louisa. I typed in the name on Google and also came up with Joshua de Isaac Henriques Valentine married to Rachel-Ribecca. The researcher seems to be in America?
Hope that this is a link to my Joshua Valentine as I have been looking for his parents and any siblings he might have for many years. I would love to find where they originated from. These names sound very Spanish.
Cheers Aileen.......... :D

Hi again mikeadair10,
Just found this on the internet.
Joshua de Isaac Henriques Valentine married Rachel Da Silva, 25 Feb, 1767 London England.
Her parents are listed as Jacob Da Silva Fonseca and Judith Da Silva Solis.
Jacob's parents are listed as Daniel Da Silva Solis and Judith Maluenda.
Judith Da Silva Solis parents are listed as Abraham Da Silva Solis and Clara Jessuram Alvarez.
Hope this might be of some help to you.

Hi Aileen, Good to be in touch. I will email as I much prefer the direct contact. For the benefit of others interested in this family, Henriques Valentine is a family of Sephardi Jews of East London who originated in Spain and Portugal and were expelled by the Alhambria Decree. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sephardi_Jews and also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alhambra_Decree (and see the map)
We do not know how they came to London but it may have been via Amsterdam. The Alhambra Decree (also known as the Edict of Expulsion) was an edict issued on 31 March 1492 by the joint Catholic Monarchs of Spain (Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon) ordering the expulsion of Jews from the Kingdoms of Castile and Aragon (not from the Kingdom of Navarre) and its territories and possessions by 31 July of that year.
