Hi,
I was wondering how I would go about finding records for James kearsley, railway signalman from 1871 to at least 1901. He appears to have been based almost entirely at Swanley Junction, Kent during this period. I beleive it was originally the London, Chatham & Dover Railway and probably ened up as the Southern Railway after the 1923 grouping.
Many Thanks
Matt

Your facts on Swanley Junction are 100% correct. You would need to find the records for the former company.
These records are in the National Archives references as follows:
London, Chatham and Dover Railway (formerly the East Kent Railway ) 1859-1918 RAIL 415/104 , RAIL 415/108-111 , RAIL 415/173 , RAIL 415/279
