I think I have just 'discovered' that one of my 2nd gt grandfathers came from Ballyporeen. His name was John Russell who married a Jane Martin at the RC church in Mitchelstown on 1st February 1828.
From the IFHF transcripts of the Tipperary (South) Parish Registers the first two children to be born of this marriage were baptised in Ballyporeen, the susequent 5 children were baptised in Mitchelstown.
Is there anyone on the Co Tipp list with an interest in Russell's from Ballyporeen?

I've just come across your message. Whilst I'm not a Russell I am from Ballyporeen. Can I do anything to help you

Hello Breda
Thank you for replying.
I have made a little progress, but I'm still stuck. I would like to send you an abridged copy of my Russell tree but I won't be able to share my email address with you - via a Personal Message (PM) - until you have posted 3 messages on RootsChat.
So if you can reply to my post, I'll acknowledge, if you then acknowledge again, I'll send you a PM with my email address.
Many thanks for getting in touch.

I have a John Russell in my tree that may have been born at that time - the family lived in Ballyporeen. Brothers are Michael, Paddy, William and a sister Kitty. Same John?
