I am trying to find the birth details of Hannah Sparrow Muckley and having no luck, I am sure she was born In staffordshire probably Wednesbury. I found a Hannah Muckley living with a James Muckley and a George Addison who is a farmer. Hannah is 15 and James is only 7 so wondering what connection is with George, surely children did not work as young as 7 did they??

Hi Carol :)
Do you mean you've found Hannah on a census? Which one?
How do you come to be searching for her - do you have her later marriage* or death?
Cheers
Prue
* Added: I have found a marriage for Hannah Sparrow MUCKLEY in December quarter of 1841, reg. district Aston, Warwickshire. Volume 16 page 374. Her husband is one of these four: Joseph Chatwin, Enoch Kendrick, William Harrington Lagoe, Richard Stevens.

Yes I found Hannah on the 1841 census living in the parish of Wednesbury. Could not quite make out address possibly Wood Green.
My great great great grandfather was John Sparrow Muckley, who married a Sarah Foster, now on the 1851 census they have son called James who was born in 1833, but on the earlier census of 1841 he was missing so I was looking for him in the earlier census and I found this one living with Hannah and George. I was trying to find birth details of Hannah to see if she was in some way related, or whether this James he a totally different one.
I am still quite new at this.
Thanks
Carol

Hannah's 1841 marriage seems to have been to Enoch KENDRICK. In 1851 they had a family in Wood Green, Wednesbury. Hannah was 29 b Wednesbury (remember ages were rounded down in 1841).
1851 ref: HO107/2027/14/5.
With the KENDRICKS in 1851 was an Elizabeth BELCHER, enumerated as "grandmother". You will see that there is an Elizabeth BELCHER, 60, at the same address as Hannah and James MUCKLEY in 1841 (though separated by a single dash, so supposedly in a separate household at that address).

Hi Carol,
John Sparrow MUCKLEY was Christened 15 June 1800, Saint Bartholomew, Wednesbury, Stafford to ELIZABETH Muckley
(Source IGI Extracted)
IGI has a submitted record of Elizabeth marrying William BELCHER, 26 May 1808, Wednesbury, Stafford.
If this is correct Hannah and James are with their Grandmother in 1841 Census.
Trish :)

Elizabeth MUCKLEY, Christened 24 March 1777, Wednesbury, Stafford
Parents WILLIAM and HANNAH
1851 Census Elizabeth Belcher is born c 1777, Wednesbury, Staffs
-
Hi Priscilla,
Excellent work on Census entries.
But as you can see the Tree has completely mucked up Hannahs Mother.
Elizabeth born c 1777 would have been age 52 in 1829 when Hannah was born.
Also 1851 Census has her down as Grandmother, 74, Widow, Formerly Farmers Wife, born Wednesbury, Staffs.

ELIZABETH, 24 October 1830, Died 03 January 1836

I cant find MARY, born c 1844's Christening or a Hannah c 1829 to JOHN/SARAH.
The only way you are probably goind to get Hannahs Fathers name is to purchase the Marriage Cert to Enoch unfortunately.

Thanks for all your help, I can now move forward with this.
I find it is so addictive and then frustrating when you get stuck.
Must develop some patience!!

Hi Carol,
It all takes practice and with experience you will improve :)
If you need anything else just ask.
Just one question; What does John Muckleys Marriage Cert say re his Father or isnt there one on the M/C?
-
I have not got John's marriage certificate, as yet.
I have begun a short course on family heritage at a local school so hopefully this will prove useful.
Carol
-
Fair enough. Enjoy your course.
If I find anything else I will post it on here for you as I would love to find where the Sparrow comes from.
It does get addictive ;D

Further to my research into Hannah Sparrow Muckley, this morning I received her marriage certificate to Enoch Kendrick. It states her father as being John Sparrow Muckley, it does not give her age and as yet I have not found her birth details. On the 1841 census she is living with her brother James, but according to my research, she had at least 7 other siblings. I am not sure why she was living with her brother James (who by the 1851 census) was back with his parents. Another ancestry researcher on ancestry co.uk site has her only having one brother called James and possibly living with her grandmother Elizabeth Belcher. Am off to take my dogs for a walk now, (do my best thinking whilst walking dogs!!) John Sparrow Muckley was an engine maker, his sons, grandsons and great grandsons seem to have all been invovled with the railways. My Dad gave me a pile of old photo's today, unfortunately he does not know who they are!! :(
-
The fact that Hannah and James were enumerated at the same address as their grandmother Elizabeth BELCHER in the 1841 census does not mean they were living with her. The census is just a snapshot of where people spent one particular night (in this case the night of 6-7 June 1841).
-
thank you for that, I had never thought of that.

Hi
Enoch Kendrick and Hannah Sparrow Muckley were my Ancestors.
Hannah was born 1821 Wednesbury her parents were
John Sparrow Muckley b. 1800 Wednesbury and Sarah Foster b 1802
John and Sarah married 1802 Wednesbury.
John Sparrow Muckley was illegitimate his parents were
John Sparrow and Elizabeth Muckley
(Hence the Sparrow Muckley names).
Elizabeth Muckley married William Belcher on 26.5.1808 at St Bart's Wednesbury
She was living with Enoch and Hannah at Enoch's house.
Hope this helps
Enoch's father had died just before the census. details on request and more info if required on Elizabeth.
Hope this helps you
Pat
Please bear with me I don't come on here very often but pm me if you want

Thank you very much, I was totally stuck on John Sparrow Muckley.
I was struggling to find details on Hannah until I sent for her marriage certificate.
Any information you have on Elizabeth would be gratefully received.
At the moment I have moved on to my maternal side of the family which is proving just as tricky but still so enjoyable finding things out,
Carol
