Can someone help I have been looking for the records of my Uncle Alfred Savage who served at R A F Driffield during ww2, he died in 1940 and he is buried in Driffield cemetery. I believe he was a photographer while he was in the R A F. I also believe he was in the Army as I have a picture of him and he looks like he is dressed in an army uniform also in the picture there is a plaque which says 1926 coy AAPC Basutoland . How do I find records about him I have tried and can get no further
Thanks for your help

Hi lynda c, You could try; venerans.help@spva.gsi.gov.uk Very good site It may cost you to get his service record unless his wife is still alive, if he was married, she would be able to get it for free. Try and get as much info as you can ; Like his service number his rank DoB etc. BN

As I recall there was a surprise air raid on RAF Driffield in 1940 resulting in considerable damage so perhaps his death is linked to that?
