hi does anyonr have any old photos/pictures of ivybridge they dont want my cousin has just taken over a pub in the area she wants to put pictures up of the village and people who lived in the village in days gone by its hard to start up a business in a recession and once you lose a village pub its gone forever any photos or pictures would be wonderfull regards dave

cheers thanks for that but as they have put all of there money into the business they are not in a position to purchase photos ive given them a picture of 6 photos from chris robinson of pictures of plymouth but its ivybridge they are looking for thanks for the reply

The West Country Studies library may be able to point them to sources of photos of old Ivybridge that aren't copyright.

I don't think that Ivybridge people would describe it as a village either - it's definitely a town. )

thanks for that info i agree its the size of a town but it wasnt that long ago it was the fastest growing village in europe

If I were them, I'd also ask the locals if there's an Ivybridge history group because if there is, they'll know where to find free photos they can use. They could also take out an advert in the local newspaper (as part of their own advertising of the pub) and ask for any old local photos, which they could enhance and enlarge themselves using a computer.
I could imagine some lovely photos on the wall with little notices beside them saying "Photo kindly donated by Mrs Blah Blah"
