Title: Village Christmas Card
Post by: cheshiremog on Monday 27 September 10 19:53 BST (UK)
Dear Photographic Restorers

Please may I impose on your talents once again.  We are now looking for a series of Christmas Cards for our Nottinghamshire villages Jacksdale & Westwood which will now be part of a set of cards.  On another topic there have been some fabulous ideas on a Christmas card of the soldier on our village war memorial, now the committee are suggesting that we have some other cards as well.  Is there anyone who can liven up these views and give them a Christmas feel?  Thank you for your help it is always appreciated and profits will go to our village heritage group.

I will post two or three images below hope you can help.

First view of Brinsley Hill, Jacksdale
Suggested wording "Greetings from Jacksdale"

Or would these more modern ones work as a Christmas Card?

Or can anyone suggest any good freeware which has decent Christmas frames so I could add a few of my own?

Forgot to say - the one above is Jacksdale Community Centre
So maybe wording should be "Greetings from Jacksdale"

This one is the Pit Wheel at Jacksdale

Hope you can help and also hope I am not being a pest!

Thanks Mog and thanks Carol   :)

I particularly like Tony and Wendy's contributions - very classy. 8)

I am finding the bridge photo a bit of a challenge though, I mean how can you make it Christmassy when the guy is in short sleeved shirt and holding a baby.  ;D ;D. ;D

Dear Tabsearch

Just to let you know that you are our lucky winner!!!!

Three of your images have been selected to be used as part of a set of 5 cards
depicting the villages of Jacksdale & Westwood, Notts.  With a little help from some templates on a major printing website we have adapted your restoration work slightly to keep everyone on the committee happy!!
So this is what we have come up with - see images - posting them on now.

Please PM your address to me and I will be very happy to post a complimentary set of cards to you.

Thank you so much for all the work you and all your fellow restorers do on rootschat - you make people happy - and that's what counts - our villagers will be delighted when they see these cards.  Thank to everyone who helped and for all the wonderful ideas and restores/adaptations you came up with - they were all marvellous and it was very difficult to choose.

These cards will help us raise funds for the Jacksdale Heritage Group - we are a non profit making group who help people of all ages enjoy their heritage.  We have recently run genealogy classes in our local village netcafe and have always recommended RC as one of the best websites to join.

God bless you all and have a wonderful Christmas

Tabsearch - don't forget to send me your address!!

These are scans of the actual cards - the cards are glossy and have printed beautifully - we are delighted - the scans perhaps do not do them credit.

love Mog

Nope - looking at the scans I have just posted - they definitely do not do them full justice - the glossy finish is superb.

Thank you again to everyone for all their help and kindness

Carol I had nowt then and I have nowt now unfortunately. :( ;D

Irene of course you can be my manager – how does 50% of all my profits sound. You may have to wait a while though. You couldn’t lend me a fiver in the meantime could you. ;D
