Hello,
Captain Robert Armstrong was the master of theship "Aramac" that ran between Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and Townsville. On the mariner roll for the ship he is listed as being born approximately 1841 -1842 in Dumfries. He is buried in Townsville "West End" Cemetery. Just wondering if anybody is able to look up a christening record for Robert Armstrong born 1841/1842 in Dumfries father William, mother Elizabeth. We are interested in whether the records will show his mothers maiden name and any other siblings and how this fits in with the rest of the Armstrong tree branch extensions on our greater Armstrong tree. Also, the 1841 census for this family. Though this may be in England. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I can't see a possible entry for the above Robert on IGI, but I think his sisters show. To parents William Armstrong and Elizabeth Groome:
1. MARY ANN ARMSTRONG Christening: 03 JUL 1843 Dumfries, Dumfries
2. AGNES ARMSTRONG Christening: 11 FEB 1847 Dumfries, Dumfries
You would need to be able to verify whether this is indeed Robert's family though through other sources.
