Title: The Wheatsheaf Belton
Post by: treathunter on Thursday 23 September 10 20:52 BST (UK)
Hi, my great grandparents Robert and Sarah halls were landlord and lady of this pub around 1919. they came from camb. we were wondering how they came to be at the wheatsheaf.
they lived in medge hall before this. we think they were primitive Methodists.
we have 3 photos of the pub in various states.
my great aunt and husband then took it over, George and Dorothy brown around 1937.
has anyone got any info or could recommend any local books relating to belton. thanks treathunter

hi
thanks ill try the parish council. yes i was confused by the county. the map at the library in scunthorpe stops half way down westgate which is the road it is on. i was not sure if that classed it as lincs or yorks.
also trying to find the medge hall primitive methodist chapel, map finsihes right on the road going through medge hall.
thankyou treathunter

hi yes i saw this on google but the picture i have looks like a wooden building, more like a big shed. it has the words primitive methodist medge hall written on it. i think the brick building came after the one i have a pic of. we may drive down that road when cousin comes to see if any dates on it.
thanks treathunter

A very good site for all Isle of Axholme related links - such as Belton - comes up if you type in "Are your roots in Isle of Axholme?".
