I am trying to trace my grandfather's family. On the 1911 census he is shown as being born in Colwyn, Radnorshire but I can find no trace of a Colwyn in Radnorshire.
Does anyone have any idea about this please?

Hi and welcome to Rootschat
Have you only looked at the 1911 transcription or have you viewed the full image in case his birthplace has been mis-transcribed. There is a Colva in Radnor
Where was he living in 1911 - Radnor or elsewhere
-
Looking at the 1881 census for Radnor
Albert E b 1874 Disserth - parents Thomas & Margaret
Albert b 1877 Glasbury parents Thomas & Mary
Albert b 1878 Llowes
Albert b 1878 Presteigne
Do you have a copy of his marriage cert showing his fathers name and occupation?
What was his wife's name in 1911 and how long had they been married. Do you know her maiden name

Hi CaroleW
Thanks for the replies.
In answer to your first mail, I haven't checked the actual image so I will do this as you suggest. In 1911 he was living in Rhondda, Glamorganshire.
From your second mail, I don't have the marriage certificate yet but I am about to purchase a copy.
In 1911 his wife was Ellen, married for 8 years. Her maiden name was Kennedy and she was born in Bristol.

From that info - he was Albert Evan Price
Marriages September qtr 1903
Ellen Kennedy/Albert Evan Price Cardiff 11a 628
A possible birth
Births September qtr 1873
Albert Evan Price Builth 11b 87

I have just checked and the Builth RD includes Disserth so he is probably the one b 1874 I listed above

Thank you very much for your help. I will get the certificates and work on from there.

Colwyn is one of the five Hundreds (regions) in Radnorshire.

That makes more sense of the information I have and also ties in with info from CaroleW.
