Title: McCulloch/McGregor, Cadboll, Fearn
Post by: myross on Wednesday 22 September 10 08:24 BST (UK)
Hi, Im trying to trace any living relatives of my family, my great grandparents were David Mcculloch and Johanna McGregor.

David McCulloch was born in Fearn in 1838,
Johanna McGregor was born in Kincardine in 1848,

They lived at 42 Cadbole Cottages in Fearn in 1891 with their 5 children:  Colin, Annie, Willemina, John, and Jessie [my grandmother]

David was an agricultural labourer , Im having a lot of trouble trying to trace any connection to this side of my family apart from Jessie who married Donald Ross [baker] at the Temperance Hotel in Tain in 1906.   [my grandparents who some years  later moved to Glasgow]

If anyone has any information on Cadbol Cottages, ie;  where are they ?,  are they still there ? , photographs etc  please post or email me.

thankyou so much.

Myross, these must be the farm cottages of Cadboll, above the fishing village of Hilton (of Cadboll), which, with Balintore & Shandwick feature in a small book called "Down to the Sea", by Jessie Macdonald & Ann Gordon, you can read this on Google under Ross-shire Wayfarers! Another good read is "My Uncle George" by Alastair Phillips, the story of George Mackay, Free Church Minister of Fearn, Phillips wrote for the Glasgow Herald for many years, very funny!    Skoosh.
