Hi,
Can you help please?
I am trying to verify a birth in the St James, Westminster area details as follows:
1851 - Childs name: ELIZABETH LOUISA RICHTER RUNACRES - Mother: ELIZABETH RUNACRES
Diaappeared from locality in Suffolk around the time of the 1851 census, and year of birth is reported as 1851. Known details suggest she was born in the Marylebone area,
She later went on to drop the RUNACRES, and was married using the name RICHTER.
Advice gratefully received, and I hope I've posted in the correct place.
Cheers,
Julie

Hi Julie
The baptism registers for St James Westminster are included in the IGI but there's no match meaning she wasn't baptised at that church or she has been omitted from the batch.
There's noting showing up elsewhere in the IGI or the LMA parish collection.
St James Westminster's registers are at the City of Westminster Archives not the LMA so won't be included in those transcriptions anyway.
She may have been baptised at one of the other parishes in Westminster but, if the parish isn't covered by the IGI, you would need to look at the registers at the Westminster Archives.
She may have been baptised at a church that hasn't deposited it's registers or wasn't of the Anglican faith.

There's a possible birth entry in Dec 1/4 1850 for Eliza Runacres, Kensington vol 3, pg 378, Kensington district at that time covered Paddington which is next to Marylebone.

Hi,

What about this one. Surname spelt a little differently
Elizabeth Louisa RUNACRESE, Mar qtr 1851, St James Westminster, 1 120
Found by doing a search on just the christian names

Hi,
Thanks both for these replies. Perhaps you are both right in this.
The family did come from Thrandeston, and they definatley appear to be missing 1851 census to 1861 census. I have been informed that during those 10 years mother has 2 further children, George and Agnes, then 1861 mother and children x3 are all back in Thrandeston.
I have never come across this situation before, so I never considered that the mother may well have "registered" twice.
Does this make any sense to anyone who knows more than me ???
Thanks

Hi you may have sorted this out but I will give you what I know. Elizabeth was born on 21st January 1851 in the Poland Street Workhouse, off Oxford Street, London. The site is now a carpark. She was baptised 11th June 1863 in Thrandeston, Suffolk with her sibling Agnes( my greatgrandmother) and George which I am not sure about. The question remains why did her mother Elizabeth return to Thrandeston and have her children baptised together. Even more interesting is what happened to her.The marriage of Elizabeth Louisa Richter can not be verified because the GRO can not produce a copy of the marriage certificate.
I hope this helps you.

Hi Fenham
Welcome to Rootschat ;D
According to the GRO index at Freebmd Elizabeth Louise Ricter married William Martin in 1884
Dec 1884
Martin, William, Depwade 4b 639
Richter, Elizabeth Louisa, Depwade 4b 639
If the GRO are unable to produce a copy of the entry, you can apply to the local register office although the GRO reference number won't mean anything to them and you may have to pay for a search if you don't know where the marriage took place.
