Can anyone help?
My Gt-Gt-Grandparents married on 17th November 1867 in Mile End reg district. Herbert Charles Adams married Lydia Galifeant (this is the spelling on the certificate). Her father: Samuel Galifeant (profession - Brewer). Residence at time of marriage - Stepney. The 1881 census shows Lydia Adams as being born about 1845 in Plaistow.
However, I have found no-one with this spelling of the surname in the London/Essex areas on any of the census' I have had sight of. There are 2 Galifiants in Limehouse on the 1871 census but I don't think it was a complete census document.
Would anyone be able to find Lydia Galifeant on the census' before her marriage - ie: 1851 or 1861. It's possible, of course, the name will be spelt slightly different.
Thanks in anticipation

Thank you Jonathan
The Galifeant side has been very elusive but it's gradually falling into place. I think the spelling variations are a bit of the problem.
Is Galifant one of your interests too or was it just the location? I see Webb is on your list of names - it's my surname too but my Webb's all come from Whitstable in Kent (traced back to 1760's so far).
Regards and thanks again for the info

There were no Galifants or variations in 1851 Bethnal green, Whitechapel or St George in the east

Hello
I'm doing a bit of housekeeping and wondering if you are still looking for this information? If so has any further information come to light in the meantime?
As this is an old request, if we don't hear from you in a while, I'll move it to the Completed section.
Regards
Biker :)
