I'm having a difficult time finding any information on the above mentioned who were married and had their children in Glasgow. We have my grandfathers Birth Certificate that states these two names but we've hit a brick wall after that.
The only thing we know is Mary Coulter (nee Hamilton) had a sweet shop.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Can we have a time frame please - when was your grandfather born
-
The only other information I have is they were the parents of my grandfather and he was born in 1899.
And rumour has it this was Samuel Coulters second marriage. But we have no information about the first wife.
Thank You!

Can we have your grandfathers name
-
Scotlands People is showing one match for a marriage between a Samuel Coulter and a Mary Hamilton between 1891-1900
Have you checked it? www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Thanks! I'll check that out...
Quite new to this so don't really have a starting off point! Thanks for your help
-
What was your grandfathers name as I can try and find them on the 1901 census? Was he born in Glasgow?
-
He was born in Glasgow, William John Coulter, but he was apparently shipped to Co. Armagh to live with family when he was a young child. I've found him on a census of N. Ireland in 1911.
-
He's not on the Scottish 1901 so was possibly in transit to Ireland as I can't find him on the Irish 1901 with Samuel & Mary
-
Thanks for you help
-
What was the address he was born at?
What was his father's occupation?
-
Maybe his mother died and that was the reason he went to Ireland
Death on SP
1901 COULTER MARY other name HAMILTON Female aged 31 at BRIDGETON GLASGOW CITY/LANARK

Hi All :)
With Sancti's possible death entry for mother Mary, there is this possible census entry in Scotland for 1901. The transcript is messy and I think a couple of households may have been jumbled together, but I think this might be the core entry for the Coulters:
Sam Coulter 29, car driver b. co Armagh, Ireland
Sarah Coulter 4 b. Glasgow
Wm J Coulter 2 b. Glasgow
Sarah J Coulter 27, sister b. co Armagh, Ireland
Address: 25 Dunn St, Bridgeton Glasgow (fits well with the location that Sancti found)
Canadian, if you have the birth cert for William John, this should include the date and place of parents' marriage for reference when searching on SP, although from the info by Carole, there looks to be likely one possible entry.
