Title: Peter Forde of Kildare in Irish Brigade
Post by: corisande on Sunday 19 September 10 13:39 BST (UK)
I have traced Peter Forde  (full write up here)  (http://www.irishbrigade.eu/recruits/forde.html)

from birth in Kildare in 1896,
through to enlisting in Connaught Rangers (a little odd the choice of regiment)
through capture by the Germans in 1914
Joining the Irish Brigade in Germany
And his discharge in 1920 for the purpose of residing outside the United Kingdom"

And there he disappears. From other sources I doubt that he left Ireland and he was said to have been in Old IRA in 1920 and 1921

With a name like "Forde" he should be easy to trace in Kildare. Can anyone add anything to the information I have on him.

Interesting link! He lived on the same street as my family in the 1911 census. They were the Belford's and the Rankin's.

Yes, it amazing what a small world it is on Rootschat, I found someone on Rathgar Road thread in Dublin forum whose family lived next door to my grandparents there.
