I am researching my CRAWFORD tree (located in Cheshire) and have been given a copy of a tree that indicates the origin of the surname was in Oxfordshire and known as CROWFOOT.
The earliest documentation that I have uncovered today, at Cheshire Records, was of a marriage in 1774 at St Oswald's, Chester of Stephen CROWFOOT to Dorothy WYNN.
Later records appear to show the name as CRAWFORD.
A burial of Stephen CRAWFORD aged 69 appeared at St Mary's, Chester in 1822
Has anyone else researched either of these names from either location, that may have a missing individual's history on their tree?
Many thanks,
Liam.

I have a William Crawford born around 1798 in Duddon, Cheshire. Some of his children were registered in Over, Cheshire as Crowfoot. I'd assumed it was a spelling error.
I haven't found his birth or marriage, and don't know his father's name. Not very useful, sorry! But I was very interested to read your post.
