Hi, I have been researching my family tree for the past few years and have met lots of people through GenesReunited. However, I never seem to find anyone who also has a link to the Booth family. I have some info on them but would love to hear more. They were all very well known within the Aberdeen Fire Service around the time it was established and from then onwards. I have many newspaper clippings and some photos which would be great to share!

Hi Zephyrcat,
I too have Booths from Aberdeen, but it isn't an uncommon surname though. I don't know of any links between my Booths and the fire service either; but if you post some of their names and relevant dates someone may see a link to their family.
Best wishes,
Grothenwell

Hi Zephyrcat,
Sorry doesn't look like there is a link with my Booths to the names you mention. My 3 x Gt Grandad was George Booth, a merchant sailor, birth and death date unknown, he married Isabel Cruickshank in 1816 in Aberdeen. They did have a William Booth, my 2 x Gt Grandad but that was in 1829.
So if there is a link it will be further back. I hope someone else responds to you who has the same Booths as you.
Cheers,
Grothenwell

Hi Marcie, sorry no connection that I know of. Perhaps your Margaret and my George are related but at this time I don't have any other details I'm afraid.
Best wishes,

I know present Booths, from Banchory, just outside Aberdeen. Farmers. Maybe that will help.

ithought that alexander craig was married to a margaret boothe for ages until recenctly when i rechecked the census and marriage he was married to margaret godon hence the crrest. how do these people meet let alone obtain permissionto marry into a different class, unless they felt they needed new blood?i am not a snob not even an inverted snob, or was during the victorian era tthat things became more stuffy.

Hi Marcie, would love to make contact with you about Alexander Craig and Margaret Booth. I have their names on the death certificate for Mary Hall (ms Craig) who married George Hall.

Does anyone have any information about a Mr Mackay/Mackey? Apparently chief of the Aberdeen Fire Brigade, I think during the late 1700s/1st half of the 1800s. Don't know his first name unfortunately.
Thanks!

Don't know if you are still looking for this but I am decended from Alexander Booth and Susan Forrest - one of the Booths who were firemen - so I know a little about some of the family since then.
I'm also new to this site so if there are any problems here - sorry.
