Hi there,
Im here with my mum and we're looking into the Kyte family history.
So far what we know is:
Jonah Kyte and wife Emma Kyte moved to Halifax West Yorkshire from what we believe is Shirebrook
Their children were born in shirebrook and were called:
Mary Anne, Harriet, Florence, rosy, Tom, Jake
Jonah was a coal miner
We think jonahs brother was called sonny gut this could have been a nick name - we think he had more brothers
all help appreciated as we're totally stuck at this point.

Go here www.familysearch.org and type in Jonah Kite - you'll find a 1881 census record for Jonah with his parents and several siblings, living in Cannock Staffordshire

I can't see any other match on the censuses, so he looks very good to me.
To make sure that he's the one, it would be useful to get his marriage certificate to Emma : it would prove that his father was also Jonah.
I'm having trouble finding the marriage reference on FreeBMD though. Or Emma and the children in 1891, for that matter.
Any idea what Emma's maiden name was? Else the birth cert of one of the children would tell. For instance:

Yes we seem to be related, all the listings found match my tree.
I remember visiting my gt aunt Mary Ann and her border collie when I was a child.
Gt aunt Florrie had a son George Lund and he lived in Shirebrook with Jonah and his wife Elizabeth ( my grandparents). My mum Prue (Sonnys sister) speaks of her aunt Rose visiting too.

So is Wilfred and Prue the brother/sister of the group that include florence, rosehanna, harriet, mary and jonah (1888) as theyre new to my tree in this case :)
In the 1901 census, theres a jonah thats 15 yr old. is this your jonah?

Yes Jonah 1888 was my granddad. Prue ( my mum) Sonny (Wilfed) are his children, also Annie, Jack, Harry, Samuel Roy, Frank and Dorothy.
The name Florence, Rosannah etc were granddads' siblings.
