My great great grandmother Elizabeth (Eliza) Holmes was married twice. Firstly to John Farrell in 1856 and then my great great grandfather John Rattigan in 1861. Both marriages took place in Strokestown, County Roscommon, Ireland.
I've only recently learned that Eliza had 2 children from her first marriage - Mary in 1857 and Patrick in 1858. I have just discovered records online for Patrick Farrell - he married Mary Winn in 1894 in Providence, Washington, Rhode Island and had a son John in 1895 and a daughter Marie or Mary in 1899.
I would love to learn more about my great grandfather's half brothers family. Any Farrell descendants out there?

There is a death record for Patrick and a birth record for Myra (daughter of Patrick & Mary - looks to be the same person as Mary/Marie) here - http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home

Wow. Thank you for such a speedy reply shellyesq and merjones. I certainly wasn't expecting much today.
Shellyesq, I found that record already. I'm guessing it's actually a typo and should be Mary.
Merjones, I was following Patrick through the census records you gave me and I have to say I was quite sad when I saw he had been widowed. Isn't it amazing how the life of a complete stranger can make you feel!
Thank you both for your help.
Figures crossed one of his descendants will reply :o.
Thanks again.

Shellyesq, it's great to see him in the directories and it confirms the rest of the information. Thanks.
Merjones, that certainly does look like Patrick's daughter. How sad. Between 1910 and 1920 he lost his daughter and his wife. Now I'm wondering how they died. Poor Patrick.
Thanks for all the help you two. You have given me more information than I imagined I'd get. ;D
