Title: Electoral Roll Look up
Post by: christopherneil on Monday 13 September 10 15:12 BST (UK)
Could anyone carry out a look up for me please for the following person:

James Macfarlane address on 1911 census  is 17 Hawthorn Grove Wallasey. His wife Ellen was living there when she died in 1931 showing as his widow.

He dissapears after the 1911 census and he is supposed to have died between the census of 1911 and sometime before March 16th 1916 as his Sons marriage certificate has him as deceased on this date.

Despite numerous searches for his death I can find no trace so I wondered if we could narrow down his possible date of death through an electoral roll search or by any other method.

Thanking you in anticipation

Chris Neil

Hi Dotty

I have checked and can't find anything but he was born in 1855 so in 1911 he would have been 56 so approaching 60 by the time war broke out. That is not to say he did not lie about his age and join-up.

He was in the Merchant Navy and in 1911was working on the Mersey ferries so while I have never dismissed this I thought it unlikely but the fruitless search means I have to look at all possibilities.

Unfortunately I have been unable to find any of his Merchant Navy records either.

Thanks Chris
