Hi Jeannette,

My 4 X Great Grandfather is Robert Allanach born 1791 Camisour, Strathdon, Aberdeen. According to his death cert his parents were John Allanach and Sophia McHardy - this is where I have hit my brickwall.

I believe my Allanachs would be related to your Allanachs but because of this brickwall I haven't managed to get very far with proving/disproving that theory. It doesn't help that the Allanachs also seemed to have used the name Stuart at some point.

I have a copy of your William's Mother Mary's death cert which states that her parents are William Allanach, Ship Carpenter, deceased and Mary Allanach, M.S. Forbes. Mary died on 24th May 1892 aged 80 at Millhochie, Tullynessle, Aberdeen and was the widow of John Allanach, Crofter.

John died a pauper (formerly farm servant) on 15th August 1881 at Millhochie, Tullynessle aged 81 years, his parents are William Allanach, gardener & Isabella Allanach M.S. Grassick (both deceased).

I have a fair collection of Allanach certs which I will look through over the weekend to see if I can find any more which may be of relevance to you.

Lynn  :)

Hi from Australia,

My GG Grandfather was Robert Stuart (Born Strathdon in 1789) who married (Oct 1826) Helen Fraser (Born in Angus 1797) and the family  farmed at Deochrie in Glenbucket for decades.

One of Robert and Helen's children was a Margaret Stuart born in 1832 at Glenbucket and I believe she went on to marry a William Forbes whose mother was Jane Allanach and father James Forbes.

Regards

Gerry
