Hi folks,
Thanks for all previous help. I was born in Airthley Castle, Bridge of Allan,I would like to find out a wee bit more about the use of the place as a maternity hospital, any hints appreciated. It was strange I took my son to Stirling University a few years ago not realising the "castle " was now the admin building did not have time to discover anything due to travelling time.
Jim.

Hi Jim
A bit about it here and there are other bits and pieces on the web:
http://www.scottish-places.info/features/featurefirst5252.html
It appears to have been an annex to Stirling Royal Infirmary to the 1960s.

I have information on Airthrey Castle Maternity Hospital as abbreviated versions of two papers delivered to The Scottish Society of the History of Medicine meeting in 1987, by the Medical Officer for Health 1939-1948, and the Consultant Obstetrician 1948-1969, when the unit transferred to Stirling Royal Infirmary. If of interest I'll try to scan them and email them to you. (I'm not exactly sure how to do that!!) Perhaps you can advise me.

Hi Alba 11,
Thanks a million.
I really would be very interested in seeing the info you have. More especially as it related to the period I was born there, ( 1947) So with that in mind I would be reluctant to try to tell you how to scan it etc. Some kind soul might step in and assist.
Regards,
Jim Paterson

Jim,
if Alba11 was to post another message then after three posts. They will be able to use the personal message system. Then that would allow you to correspond with each other and exchange e-mail addresses. Then you could e-mail each other and send that scanned stuff as an attachment.
