I am interested in hearing from anyone researching the newton family from Linlithgow and Fife area. My grandfather a miner at Cowdenbeath was killed in a pit accident around 1917 he was married to Margaret Anderson from the Wemyss.
I believe that my grandfathers family were from Three Mile Toun near Linlithgow.

Just to add some more....
There are a number of people who have this family on Ancestry family trees (I think from these, they are following lines from children/siblings Isabella and William). From the info confirmed by Eva and Ev, the tree shows parents as James Morton Newton and Janet Hume Murray who are showing as having married in Oct. 1871 at Uphall, West Lothian. From this info, William is showing as a Pit Inspector in 1901. No death date included for William but wife Janet is showing as having died in 1927 in Kelty, Fife.

Margaret Anderson from East Wemyss as above, was my Great Great Aunt (she was my Great grandfathers sister). Havent researched the Newton side so far however I have researched the Anderson side. I believe James Newton and Margaret Anderson had 3 children from the marriage.

On the attached link to Scottish Mining, the link also highlights the death of Robert Anderson age 20 in November 1921 at Donibristle Pit near Cowdenbeath. This Robert Anderson was the nephew of Margaret Anderson mentioned in the initial post. Robert Anderson is my great uncle.
