Title: Charlotte Wright (1819-1897)
Post by: LilyAllenfan86 on Tuesday 07 September 10 23:36 BST (UK)
I am looking for information about my 3xgreat Grandmother Charlotte Lacey (nee Wright) who had been born on 30th December 1819 in Bristol and at some point moved to Pontypool, Monmouthshire where she married my 3xgreat Grandfather John Lacey of Lacy and had nine children Charlotte, Robert, Deaner, Thomas, Ann, Sara, Elizabeth, Harriet and Mary, John however died in the 1850S and she then remarried and she died on 30th January 1897 in Garndiffaith, Monmouthshire what I need to know is about her parentage if anyone has any information about her then I would be really glad to hear about it or if anyone knows about a website that could help.
 Thank You
 Beth Catherine Price

Also submitted record on IGI;
Charlotte WRIGHT/John LACEY married 18 May 1834, St Mary, Bitton, Glouscestershire
Charlotte born c 1817
Johns Parents DANIEL and NANCY

Hopefully someone may have Bitton Recrds to check this!
I have tries to find them in 1841 with no success so far but will look again.

Copy of the second Marriage Cert might be a good idea as Carole said.

On LDS the only John  & Elizabeth married St James was 25 Feb 1796 John Wright to Elizabeth Edwards.

John however died in the 1850S and she then remarried and she died on 30th January 1897 in Garndiffaith, Monmouthshire

I see that by 1871 Charlotte was living as the wife of James PLUMMER in Trevethin: RG10/5335/33/9.

The only likely death registration I can see for her is not consistent with a 30 January death:

Death, Dec qtr 1897

Charlotte PLUMMER aged 78

Pontypool 11a 87

John however died in the 1850S

The only possible local death I can find for John LACEY is Jun qtr 1854 Pontypool.  If this is him it fits with his being the father of Harriet LACEY (birth reg Dec qtr 1853 Pontypool) but not of Mary LACEY (aged 14 in the 1871 census).  I can't see a birth registration for Mary as LACEY or LACY.

I am a decendant of Charlotte Wright through Mary her daughter was my 2xgrt grandmother.
Charlotte's mother was one of two people Hannah or Mary Wright(sisters) Mary died the year that Charlotte was born. I have not got any further than this,
A cousin of mine has given me quite a bit of interesting information but I feel I need to check that the ifo is correct myself before I pass on to you.

I will be in touch when I sift through all the info she has given me.

My Mother remembers Gomer Leek very well, from when she was a child and I remember her telling me about him when I was younger.

I have a copy of Charlotte's marriage to James Plummer. I think I've posted it on my tree on ancestry, if not I'll do it today.
I still haven't found a record of Mary Lacy birth. It maybe that Charlotte did not register her. I found Harriet's record.

Gosh this has been revived after many years!

So I presume no Father is named on Charlottes second M/C?

John Wright. A cousin of mine has a theory that he was a father at 16 or 17.
