Hi
What was his exact date of birth and who were his parents?
Haven't found anything - but - this information can often be found in Canadian records and would be useful to compare to when looking at possibles.
Cheers

Hi,
As AMBLY said more info is needed. There are a couple George Murray soldiers who could fit the 1885 birth date.

Library & Archives Canada has a lot available online but we need you to help us.
The 1911 Canada census has 4 George Murray's in Quebec.

sorry ambly computer on the blink.
as far as I know george was still with his parents in FRASERBURGH in 1901.at present we cant get the 1911 census. that would be a great help in finding out where he was then. Of course there is always the thought that he went to Aberdeen to do his training and maybe he lodged somewhere. where exactly do you look to find the passenger lists for canada. Again I dont know where he went from. researching isnt easy , is it. but we do get in contact with a lot of people, dont we! fingers crossed again

Have had a look thinking lots of young men left the UK prior to WW1 (no wonder!) so I searched 1901 - 1914 and there were 35 George Murrays. However of that 35 some have no YOB and only 4 are down as YOB 1885 and two have middle initials which you may be able to discount.

hi fifer
1901 - 1914 where exactly did you look for to get your info. am struggling at present murrays are very common!!!

Hazel I wonder if you can help me in tracing a missing beneficiary.
I am seeking any issue of a Fullerton Murray and I noticed earlier that you mentioned your 4xgreat grandparents James Robertson, born 20 February 1832, and Mary Mundie, born 17 November 1827. Someone else on the system gave the nine children of their daughter Jessie Robertson who married William Murray on 20th June 1882. I guess Jessie was the sister of one of your Robertson 3x great grandparents.
The youngest of William and Jessie's nine children was Fullerton Murray born Peterhead 6th July 1900 and one of his older brothers Allan Murray was the father of the lady for whom I seek heirs. She is Violet Murray and she died a single lady without issue and an only child in Aberdeen, on 28th October 2011. All we know of Fullerton is that he left Greenock Scotland for Quebec on 19th August 1923 and may have left St Johns New Brunswick to Liverpool on 23rd February 1950.
It is unlikely that your researches filled in branches of the family that were descendants of brothers or sisters of your own ancestors but I hope you do not mind me asking. I do not seek a share of the inheritance as my nominal fee is paid by the solicitors involved.
