Hi All
Bit of a strange one to me!.....with the very kind help of Iria, I've located the burial of a rellie in Toxteth Park Cemetery and luckily there is a headstone with alot of info!! I knew about Daniel, his wife Margaret and son Robert but have no idea who Daniel's "little friend" was?? On first look I can see no family connection....would it be possible for Lewis to be a friend's or neighbour's son??....was this the done thing!?......any thoughts or opinions appreciated........

It is possible the family of the little friend wanted him to be buried with someone who knew him, or that they could not afford a grave plot themselves

Hi Menwuk
Was thinking along the same lines.....I suppose it saved "little friend" from a pauper/public burial.....rather sweet really! :)

I have found the following entry at http://www.toxtethparkcemetery.co.uk
Woodward, Daniel 23 April 1910 48 years Warehouseman 42 Geraint Street Toxteth Park
The record is in the unconsecrated section
I can find no record of the little friend in 1911
I have found in the consecrated section
Lloyd, Peter 22 November 1911 15 months Infant 29 Hughson Street
The dates are wrong for Lewis, but everything else matches and Hughson St is just round the corner from Geraint st.
Also found John's entry
Woodward, John 23 November 1918 23 years Soldier 42 Geraint Street Toxteth Park Subsequent 1983

Morgan, Louisa Lloyd 7 June 1911 14 months Infant 39 Cawdon Street Toxteth Park Subsequent 1798 35925 4 21 352 CEM 9/2/7
The grave No 21 is the same for both Daniel and Louisa

It does say Lewis Lloyd (Morgan) son of Kenneth and Grace Morgan, so can't be Louisa Lloyd, unless the engraver, having already engraved the name Lewis, just decided it was a son.
There was a Louis Ll. Morgan with parents Evan and Grace at Northbrook Street, Toxteth in 1911. Surely the engraver didn't get the father's name wrong too?
FreeBMD has the death registration as Louis L Morgan, so definitely a male.

Given the same grave is quoted for both and the bmd confirms Lewis it looks like the transcription is incorrect

I should have said that the gravestone reads Lewis Lloyd (Morgan) son of.
Both the census and BMD give his name as Louis L (well the census shows Louis LL). That is not the transcription, but the actual census page, which was completed by the householder in 1911.
So are we saying the BMD and the census is wrong, or the gravestone?

Hi all
Thank you for all your replies! :D
I think this is one of those things that will bug me for ages!!.....
Mack.....I hadn't thought of Daniel being a godfather possibility....I suppose trying to obtain a christening record will be the way to go....if he was christened of course and where who knows!!....
