Trying to find a marriage of Samuel Casson and Betty Woolfenden married 1.1.1828 Bury the church is Unknown. Also trying to find my Grt.Grandmother Mary Ellen Clarke birth certificate in what district unknown date of birth 11.11.1841 census stated born Walmer Bridge Lancashire father William Clarke
mother unknown.Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for finding the place of marriage,as for Mary Ellen Clarke all I know that on the 1871 census she was born at Walmerbridge,could it be possibly be that could be a farm or a place of residence somewhere near Ramsbottom.I do have a copy of Mary Ellen's Marriage certificate to Alfred Casson they married in 1867 father deceased.They lived at Preston before coming to Australia in 1874, 3 children born in Preston.I did look at the 1841 census but it did not seem to fit in.

I think it should be Walmer Bridge which is South West of Preston BUT I notice that on the 1871 census they have daughter Mary born Preston when it appears she was registered in the sub district of Holcombe ::) see www.lancashirebmd.org.uk.
There is no apparent birth for a Mary Ellen Clarke in the Preston area in the time frame, but it didn`t become a fineable offence to not register a birth until 1876.
I am becoming increasingly fond of the Mary Ellen Clarke aged 19 born America and living in Holcombe on the 1861 census with her widowed mother and siblings. On the 1851 she is listed as Ellen born Bury, but her sister Hannah was born America! Do you have Mary Ellens address from her marriage certificate?
Your Mary Ellen will not appear on the 1841 census as it was taken before she was born.

Thanks for the information,I too have looked at the freebdm's and could never find any birth that would fit for Mary Ellen Clarke.On her marriage certificate she lived at Bottom Street Ramsbottom and one of the witness was Hannah Clarke and a B.Ashworth.Could you tell me in what state of America they were born?.Any information will be a great help.
