Looking for anyone who has connections to the family Waterhouse from Hope, Derbyshire who later migrated to Stalybridge in Cheshire.

Hi

Not sure if connected ...Mary Waterhouse born about 1812 lists Ashford  Derby as birthplace in 1841 census...though she married George Gould (shoemaker/cordwainer) in Cathedral of Manchester in 1833 ...they lived in Stockport Cheshire for several years on Newbridge Lane where first two children William and John were born ...then returned to Great Longstone where George had been born

George's parents George and Martha Hulley Gould also lived in both Stockport and Great Longstone...and we believe other family members remained in or returned to Cheshire

So family has both Derby and Cheshire ties.  I am trying to find info on Mary's Waterhouse antecdents

Unfortunately I don't think we are connected, all mine seem to have been born in either Hope or Stalybridge.
No connections with either Ashford or Stockport.
But thanks for the reply anyway and good luck in your searching.
Have you seen the Cheshire birth/marriages/deaths site?

:) Perhaps somewhere back in time our Waterhouse lines crossed since Bakewell area  is not too far away.  Ashford is about one mile from Bakewell and the latter had quite a few Waterhouse families

Yes I have used that Cheshire link and it is fantastic,,,,wish Derbyshire had same type of access

I'll keep your Waterhouse Hope and Stalybridge search in mind as I pursue mine
