Title: St Helen's Street, Cockermouth
Post by: Sue626 on Saturday 04 September 10 12:41 BST (UK)
I know this is a really cheeky request, but is there any kind person in Cockermouth who could find the time to email me a digi photo of No. 87 St Helen's Street, Cockermouth [assuming it is still there] please? I live in Lincolnshire, so it isn't very easy for me to do myself.

It was the home of my mother-in law's father, who was born there in 1870, & I would love to be able to include a picture of the house in my research notes for her. She will be 89 next Feb & would be so pleased to see the house where his family lived.

Thank you in anticipation, Sue

You may have better luck if you post in Cumberland, as opposed to
Staffordshire.
Have you looked on google earth?..... you should be able to see if
the house still exists from there, by then transfering to street view.
I think it might be possible to copy from there also, although I have not
done this myself, someone did send an image of a house I was looking for
from the site. Never the less you will be able to show your relative, the
property as it is today.

Stupid woman I am! One of my family line is in Staffs - not thinking very well am I?

Yes, I have had a look on Google Earth, & have found what I think is the house, but there's no number on it, so I can't be sure.

Thanks for pointing out my error!

Can you not ascertain no. from working your way through the street,
from a residence with a no. on?
